What this service is
Iconprobe is a diagnostic tool that, given a URL, fetches the page at that URL, discovers its declared icon references, requests each icon file, and reports what it found. It is provided as-is, free of charge, for informational purposes.
No accounts, no stored data
The tool does not maintain user accounts. It does not store, log, or retain any URL submitted to it, any result produced, or any personal data. Each scan is independent and stateless.
Acceptable use
You may use Iconprobe to scan any public URL you own or have permission to probe. You agree not to use the tool to:
- Scan URLs you do not have legitimate interest in probing
- Send excessive requests that would constitute a denial-of-service attack on any target
- Attempt to probe internal or non-routable IP addresses (e.g., 127.0.0.1, 10.x.x.x, 192.168.x.x)
- Reverse-engineer, scrape, or repurpose the API for purposes other than checking site icons
No warranty
The results provided by Iconprobe are generated programmatically and may be incorrect, incomplete, or misleading. Image format detection uses magic bytes and may produce false positives or negatives. Hosts behind Cloudflare or other platforms that block the requesting IP may appear unreachable — this is a platform limitation, not a reflection on the target site. Use the results as one data point in your investigation, not as a definitive diagnosis.
Service availability
The tool is provided without any guarantee of uptime, response time, or continued availability. The operator may modify, suspend, or discontinue the service at any time without notice.
Changes to these terms
These terms will be updated when the operator establishes a legal entity and can provide a binding governing law and jurisdiction. Until then, no contractual relationship exists between the operator and anyone using the tool.
Billing
Free tier
The Free plan costs $0 and requires no payment, no signup, and no account. It is available immediately and is not subject to billing terms.
Pro plan (planned)
The Pro plan is provisionally priced at $9/month (billed monthly). The following terms describe how billing will work once a payment processor is connected and the Pro plan launches:
- What you purchase: Access to batch scanning, saved scan history, API access with higher rate limits, and scheduled scans with change alerts. See Pricing for the current feature list.
- Billing period: Monthly. The card on file is charged on the first day of each billing period. The first charge occurs at the moment of subscription.
- Failed payments: If a charge is declined (expired card, insufficient funds, bank rejection), the payment processor retries up to 3 times over approximately 5 days. If all retries fail, your subscription is paused. You may update your payment method and resume at any time. No service is delivered during a paused period.
- Cancellation: You may cancel at any time. Access continues until the end of the current paid billing period. No partial refunds are issued for unused days remaining in a billing period.
- Refund policy: If the Pro service is materially non-functional during a full billing period and we cannot resolve the issue within 7 days of a request, you are entitled to a full refund for that period. All other refund requests are considered on a case-by-case basis within 14 days of the original charge.
These billing terms are provisional. They will be finalised when a legal entity is registered and a payment processor is connected. Users on the Free plan are unaffected by any changes to Pro billing terms.
